How We
Work

From Farm
to Market

Built from the Farm.

At Sustainable Growers, transformation begins where coffee itself begins, on the farm, and with the women who cultivate it. Our program is designed as a complete, end-to-end model, built around the women producers who lead it at every stage: from cultivation practices to cooperative governance to market access. Each intervention, at every level of the coffee value chain, is intentionally structured to advance one outcome, the sustained economic independence of the women who grow across Rwanda, the Democratic Republic of Congo, and Tanzania.

From Training to Community Transformation

We use the farmer field school model: small groups, hands-on learning, knowledge that transfers peer-to-peer through cooperatives. Women don’t just learn new practices, they carry them back into their communities, making each trained farmer a multiplier for the next.

A Seat at Every Table

We advocate for women farmers to have a seat at every table where the value of their coffee is decided. Through peer exchange, regional collaboration, and direct connections to global buyers, we strengthen market access and amplify women’s presence across the supply chain.
