High in Tanzania’s Mbozi District, at 1,700 meters above sea level, Ruanda AMCOS is redefining what Southern Tanzanian coffee can taste like — clean, balanced, and layered with caramel, dark chocolate, honey, and a gentle graham sweetness.

Founded in 2006, the cooperative unites 343 smallholder farmers around fully washed processing and a shared commitment to quality. Growth here isn’t just measured in kilos, though the co-op now produces over 42,000 kg a year. It’s measured in stronger market access, better infrastructure, and real opportunity for the families behind every cup.

Raising Quality. Growing Tradition

At elevations above 1,600 meters in Tanzania’s Mbozi District, Hasambo AMCOS has spent over three decades building a reputation for specialty coffee, with lots scoring 85+ and notes of red apple, lavender, and dark chocolate, rounded out by warm cinnamon and coriander spice. Founded in 1992, the cooperative unites smallholder farmers across three villages around fully washed processing and careful quality control.

Producing 100–150 tons annually, Hasambo’s coffee reaches international buyers through direct export and Tanzania’s national auction system. The cooperative’s next chapter: expanding drying beds and improving water systems to raise quality further and open new opportunity for its farmers.

For Hasambo AMCOS, excellence isn’t a moment, it’s built harvest by harvest, through tradition and a continued commitment to doing better.
