How We Work

A System in Motion

A Connected System

Sustainable Growers operates as a connected system that follows coffee from the tree to the market, ensuring that improvements at each stage translate into real value for farmers.

Train → Standardize → Organize → Connect → Grow
01
Training & Capacity Building

We Train Women Farmers

It starts on the farm.

The work begins on the farm, where we teach women farmers simple ways to grow healthier coffee and increase harvests.

Farmers are trained in agronomic practices that improve both yield and quality, including:

  • coffee tree management and pruning
  • soil health and crop care
  • selective harvesting of ripe cherries

This ensures that only high-quality cherries enter the value chain.

02
Quality Standardization (Color of Excellence)

Preserving Quality Through Processing

After harvest, quality must be maintained.

Farmers and cooperatives are supported to handle coffee properly, from cherry sorting to drying, so that it meets specialty coffee standards.

Coffee is aggregated and processed through cooperative systems, allowing for consistency, traceability, and quality control.

03
Cooperative Strengthening

Building Strong Cooperative Systems

Cooperatives play a central role in organizing production and market access.

We support cooperatives to:

  • strengthen leadership and governance
  • increase women's participation in decision-making
  • manage coffee collection, processing, and sales

This creates scale, structure, and bargaining power.

04
Market Access

Connecting to Specialty Markets

High-quality coffee reaches its full value only when it meets the right market.

We connect cooperatives directly with specialty coffee buyers, enabling:

  • better price realization
  • long-term relationships
  • reduced reliance on intermediaries

Through these connections, quality is recognized and rewarded.

05
Market Integration (Question Coffee)

Reinforcing the System Through Market Integration

Closing the loop between production and consumption.

Through initiatives like Question Coffee, we connect production to consumption, ensuring that value flows across the entire chain.

Outcome

A system where:

quality leads to access
→
access leads to value
→
value leads to growth

Communities grow stronger. That is how change lasts.
